“Love making music? How about making a better Des Moines? Help the Des Moines chapter of the New Leaders Council do both this Thursday.
Collaboration is what makes our community strong. The New Leaders Council brings together change-makers who work in a variety of fields such as preventing domestic violence, providing accessible reproductive health care and shelter for the homeless. And just like an excellent group of musicians, we pool our skills to create something more than the sum of our parts.
This Thursday, we want to show the power of collaboration by showcasing the talents of local musicians as they unite to make music. Whether it’s a guitar, a kazoo, or your voice, we invite you to bring an instrument and choose a song to play, or just join in.
Help us demonstrate what we can achieve together, this Thursday at 5:30 at the Kirkwood Ballroom, at 400 Walnut St in downtown Des Moines. The Poison Control Center’s Patrick Tape Fleming will be among the musicians collaborating and hoping to make Des Moines an even more rad place than it already is.
If there’s a specific song you’d like to play, email matt@mattdenner.com so we can put you on the list. Otherwise, feel free to join in.”
