The Poison Control Center

SEPTEMBER 3 – THE VOLLRATH, INDIANAPOLIS, IN [SHOW #75]
Day 86.
This is Patrick’s first attempt at a blog.  Thanks Joe for letting me give it a go!  Indianapolis will also be connected to the Poison Control Center for many reasons. For instance the club the Vollrath was about 5 blocks north of my old house in South Indy where the majority of the PCC’s cassette tape, “Did They Live Happily Ever After,” was recorded.  Also the Vollrath lies about a mile south of the Magic Circle and the Symphony that plays there!  So Indy will always be near and dear to my heart.
This night was no different we got to town early so we could play a brand new deli in fountain square called Square Rootz.  The deli was super cool, there was an art opening happening from artist Pete Brown who was on hand to tell me about painting scenes from Ferris Buehler and tell me that the Vollrath was one of the oldest bars in town and that Dillenger used to hang out in secret passage ways underneath the bar.  The folks there were rad and made us some killer meals after we played a short acoustic set.  In front of some friends and family.  I was most excited to see my sweet mother in law who came with spy glasses and gift bags for all the boys.  It was fun playing an acoustic set, except that by the end of it Devin only had about 3 strings on his guitar!  We were thinking of busting into PEACHES by the Presidents of the United States of America.
After the acoustic set we headed over to South Indy to rock the Vollrath.  This show was a blast and we got to hang out with our dear friend Phil Young’s Family.. 14 of them showed up for the show and were troopers to the end! Including Phill’s 79 year old grandpa who had flown in the same model WW2 plane he flew in over 50 years ago earlier that day. We also got to meet some of Ashley’s high school friends.. The show was great, and Elvis at the bar made us feel at home!
One thing you can see from the picture above is a gal (Christina) filming our set at the Vollrath, her and her partner in crime aka Monkey Eats Monkey Productions filmed the whole show in HD and were up in our faces with camera’s the whole show.. Lets jut say it made us be on our toes I think!
The jam in the van:  Fiona Apple Extraordinary Machine (Abbey Road version)

Monument / Being Gone / Start The Revolution / By The Wave / Give It A Try / Magic Circle Symphony / Cognac Dreams / Pacific Sunrise / Porcelain Brain / Don’t Go / When The World Sleeps
