OCTOBER 4 – RECORD BAR (POPWRECKONING SHOWCASE), KANSAS CITY, MO [SHOW #95]
Day 117.  28,222 miles.  Back to Kansas City, which is becoming a pretty frequented tour stop for us.  Our second appearance at the Record Bar on this trip.  This time to play a birthday party showcase for the local music blog Popwreckoning.  We met the head of the blog, Josh, who was a super-nice dude, but was a bit disheartened by the evening’s poor turnout.  “There was a last-minute Mountains Goats show that stole the indie crowd,” he told us.  It was pretty quiet that night at the Record Bar.  Even the weekly Music Trivia that happened before the show only had two teams show up.  We met a few nice people who first saw us at the Pavement show and came out to see us again.  The local band O Giant Man  played before us and they had a tight, powerful rock sound, and were very nice guys also.  We took the stage last, after midnight.  We were all a bit tired after the long day of driving, but we still had a rocking performance.  We played a brand new song, tentatively titled 1,000 Colors, and a revised Some Ordinary Vision.
The jam in the van:  The Apples In Stereo Tone Soul Revolution / Deerhunter Halcyon Digest / Lou Reed / Ornette Coleman
