The Poison Control Center

FEBRUARY 17 – BEACHLAND TAVERN, CLEVELAND, OH [SHOW #149]
[DF] Arrived at the Beachland Ballroom and Tavern parking lot to find the cops explaining to Cowboy Mouth’s entourage that there had been some noise complaints and to keep the noise from their buses down.  We debated whether their hit in the 90s was called “Jenny Says” or “Janey Says” (I chose the latter and so lost the debate.  I’d rather listen to “Candy Says” anyway.)
We had fallen in love with Cleveland during our last visit, a 3-day stint filled with last-minute shows and generous Clevelanders helping us out, giving us places to stay, buying us grilled cheese sandwiches.  We had made so many friends during our past few visits that we had long been excited to be back in town.  The bill was rounded out with some of our favorites from town – Afternoon Naps and JJ Magazine (the latter of which, although we had never seen them live, we were excited to play with as they are fronted by our good friend Roxanne and her brother, Zach, also plays in the band).  Neither band disappointed in the slightest, although Afternoon Naps played a relatively short set.  They can be forgiven, since it was their first show with their new drummer.  We closed out the evening with an epic 17-song set, including our ode to Cleveland, “Church on Mars”, to a fun crowd.
Went back to Roxanne’s place afterwards and amused ourselves watching her cat, Church, continually leap 4 or more feet in the air trying to catch a feather on a string.  Drank beers hanging out with Dave P., Tom, Roxanne, and Meg.
The word we heard:  “I’m gonna get you guys on Fallon” -Bonnie
Dinner was a winner:  Jambalaya from the Beachland kitchen
Our friends the Bartends:  Melanie / Julius
Sound Tech we respect:  Dave
The pet we met:  Church
