![FEBRUARY 24 – EMERALD LOUNGE, ASHEVILLE, NC [SHOW #156]
[JT] Had a nice, leisurely morning with the Andersons before hitting the road for Asheville. Stopped at my house first where we were greeted by a batch of delicious vegan cookies that Kelly had set out for us. Got some QT in with me & Kelly’s cat Bunny. When Kelly arrived home from work we went over to visit her grandmother Kit for a while, and her dogs Roxy and Maddie and cat Cocosan (pictured), who has lost a lot of weight and much of his angry demeanor since the band last visited in August. Next we moved on to Ryan and Jennifer’s new house and played with Sylvie more, listened to music and watched some video podcasts. We all went out for dinner at Rosetta’s kitchen, a vegan staple of Asheville, just next door to the Emerald Lounge in downtown. There we bumped into Matty, formerly of the band Babies that played with us at LAB last summer in Asheville.
The show at Emerald Lounge turned out to be really fun. The other band playing that night was the wonderful Doc Aquatic. We met JC at our last Asheville show and he gave us his band’s CD and offered to play with us next time we came through town. So glad that they did, because they are a fantastic 4-piece rock band, and real nice dudes to boot. We played next and the crowd was not huge, but very enthusiastic. They even chanted for an encore at the end, so we plugged back in and gave them “Don’t Go.” Mama Kit was in attendance as well as Kelly’s aunt Sally and uncle Martin. Zach, a photographer who works at Craggie Brewing Co. in Asheville, was there again snapping pictures during our set. He also took pictures at our first show, and had the highest praise for us. After the show we picked up some late-night snacks at an Ingles supermarket on the way back to my place, and fell asleep to Woody Allen’s Manhattan.
