MARCH 17 – VAGABOND SUPER CO-OP, AUSTIN, TX [SHOW #172]
[JT]  Left Torchy’s and headed straight over to the Vagabond Co-op near the UT campus.  We were the first band to arrive and load in.  There was still daylight outside, lighting up the inner courtyard of the building where the show was to take place.  A few guys were setting up the two Pas on either side of the open floor, and we sat around visiting while the sun went down.  My sister Susy was there, as well as our friend Joel Lang and Alex, resident of the co-op.  The two stage setups were to accommodate the eight bands that were scheduled for the night, bouncing back & forth.  We set up and played first after 8pm, and already there was a decent amount of people gathered.  It was a fun show, and we got to see a few familiar faces again.  Ladd and Amadeo and John, down from Des Moines, were also at the show.  We all watched the next few bands from the fourth floor balcony while visiting having drinks.  After the fourth band’s set soe police officers arrived and shut down the music.  We got word that the Austin Police force had been busy scouring the town and putting a stop to a lot of music happening on non-traditional venues that did not have a required permit.  Surely they must have been busy that week.  A bummer end to a good party, loaded our gear out and discovered my trumpet missing, presumably grabbed by another band.  Dang!
The word we heard:  “Have you guys seen my trumpet?” -Joe
The pad was rad:  Susy
Sound Tech we respect:  Corey
The fill of the bill:  Searchers / others
Monument / Some Ordinary Vision / Magic Circle Symphony / Torpedoes on Tuesday / Give It a Try / When The World Sleeps
