The Poison Control Center

JUNE 3 – VAUDEVILLE MEWS, DES MOINES, IA [SHOWS #209 & #210]
[JT]  Exciting to be back at the Vaudeville Mews with our brand new album Stranger Ballet, just a year and a month after we had our release show for Sad Sour Future there.  We played an early and a late show, and the entire night was a blast being with our friends and fans.  The Seed of Something opened the evening and played a ripping set of original songs, many of which I assume will be on their upcoming album they had recently finished.  The Chatty Cathies followed and kept up the high-energy tone and the crowd was eating it up.  The VM stage has become a pretty comfortable place for us to play, as we have played it more than any other over the years.  It has also become a lot more springy.  Our microphones were wobbling around as we played and the PA speakers next to us were teetering back & forth.  They would have tipped had the kids in front not kept repositioning them every so often.  Kids were rocking out, getting shoved into the front of the stage, and at any given moment there was someone crowd surfing.  We were surprised how many folks were singing along to the new songs already.  Everyone was blown away by Love Songs For Lonely Monsters in the late show, and our dear friends Bunnygrunt from St. Louis got to play for their largest Des Moines crowd yet.  Drummer Eric Von Damage was recovering from the damage done to his left hand in a recent kitchen accident, so he played the entire show with just his right hand.  Pretty impressive.  We finished the night with one more set, and the wildness continued, this time with more airborne beer than people.
Our friends the Bartends:  Clint / Ashley / Brody
We adore the door:  Angela
Sound Techs we respect:  Phil / Bryce
The fill of the bill:  The Seed of Something / The Chatty Cathies / Love Songs for Lonely Monsters / Bunnygrunt
